The CPSU Victoria has started its campaign, Victoria Works Because You Do. The campaign will include workplace and community elements, and continue through 2026 to oppose the damaging public sector job cuts.

About the Campaign

Victorian public sector workers are the backbone of our state. We're the people who process payments, keep infrastructure running, educate our children, protect our environment, and support our most vulnerable. Every day, in every corner of Victoria, we deliver the essential services that make life, community, and the economy possible. Victoria works, because we do.

Job Cuts Threaten Us All

We now face the threat of shortsighted job cuts from the Government. This is an attack on your job security and an attack on the services that all Victorians rely on.

The Government argues that cutting public service jobs will “balance the books”, but this logic is flawed and self-defeating:

  • When services are cut, the community pays the price.
  • When key roles are eliminated, you carry the crushing extra workload, leading to stress, burnout, and compromised service quality.
  • Cuts to the public service will not repair the budget because public sector job cuts don't save money.

Join the Campaign

We can stop these job cuts through collective, organised action.

The Victoria Works Because You Do campaign is the CPSU's campaign to fight for secure public service jobs and ensure the services we provide are well-funded and respected.
