The CPSU's Federal Council has elected Thirza White as the new Federal President of the CPSU SPSF Group, following the re-election of Stewart Little as Federal Secretary.
The CPSU's Federal Council has elected Thirza White as the new Federal President of the CPSU SPSF Group, following the re-election of Stewart Little as Federal Secretary. Thirza will also serve as Joint National President of the CPSU, bringing her union leadership experience to the national level of our union.
The election marks a significant moment of transition for the CPSU, as it also coincides with the farewell of a much-valued figure in the Australian union movement and our CPSU family.
After more than 20 years of dedicated service, Tom Lynch has stepped down as CPSU's Federal President. Over the course of his tenure, Tom represented the union at a national and international level.
Tom has been a tireless advocate in the public arena, leading campaigns against privatisation and championing the importance of properly funded public services. His work has left a lasting mark on the union movement and on the communities it serves.
He has also been an active participant in Public Services International – the global federation of workers in public services – bringing an Australian voice to critical conversations about workers' rights worldwide.
On behalf of members across the country, we thank Tom for his extraordinary contribution to our union and to our movement.
The CPSU (SPSF) thanks Tom Lynch for his extraordinary contribution and wishes him well in the next chapter.
We warmly congratulate Thirza White on her election and look forward to her leadership in the period ahead.
